
The federal government has enshrined the goal of greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045 in law: By 2030, emissions are to be reduced by 65% compared to 1990 levels. Procurement faces a monumental task and will become the key player in helping companies achieve their climate goals.
Up to 80 percent of companies’ greenhouse gas emissions come from upstream stages of the value chain (Scope 3) rather than from their own operations and electricity consumption (Scope 1+2). Many companies still lack concrete plans for decarbonizing their supply chains.
